How the app works

Warbrief is a companion, not a rules engine. The bottom bar advances the phase with one tap. Everything else keys off where you are in the turn: which core stratagems are available, which of your imported abilities fire now, when to check battle-shock, when to score. On your opponent's turn the app lists every stratagem and ability you could use in each of their phases, and turns red when one is live.

Getting back in sync with the table

If the app and the table drift apart, tap the ladder above the Advance key to jump straight to the right phase, or use the Back key. Nothing is lost by scrubbing. You can also tap Adjust next to the position readout to set round, turn and phase directly.

Importing your army list

Build your list in ListForge, open its share link and paste that link into Warbrief. The app fetches the list from ListForge and keeps a copy on your device, so you can play without a connection afterwards.

The app only reads 11th-edition lists. If an import is refused, check that the list is built for the current edition and that the share link is public.

Pairing with your opponent

  1. Both players open the menu and choose Sync opponent.
  2. One player taps Host Game. The other taps Join Game and picks the host's code from the list.
  3. From then on the phase, round, both players' command points and both lists stay in step. Either player can advance.

Pairing uses Bluetooth only and works without an internet connection. Both devices need Bluetooth on and the permission granted. If the link drops, the host keeps the game and the guest simply joins again. Pairing is available on iPhone and iPad.

Command points

The app gives each player one command point at the start of their Command phase, following the core rules reading documented in the app. If your event uses a different reading, change it under Settings. You can always adjust command points by hand.

Why there is no mission or codex text

Warbrief ships no datasheets, codex rules or mission cards. Army-specific content appears only after you import your own list. Secondaries are tracked as labels you type, and the tactical-mission reminders tell you when to draw and discard without reproducing the deck.

Removing your data

Everything the app stores is on your device. Deleting the app removes it all. See the privacy policy.
