Privacy Policy
The short version
Warbrief does not collect, store or transmit personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Everything the app knows lives on your device, and we have no server that it reports to.
What the app stores on your device
- The state of your current battle: round, phase, command points, score, clock, which stratagems you have used and which effects are active.
- Your settings, such as haptics, keep-awake and the command point rule.
- Army lists you choose to import, including the stratagems and abilities that come with them, and any casualty tracking you enter.
This data is kept only in the app's private storage on your device. It is removed when you delete the app. It is included in your device backup if you use iCloud or iTunes backup, under Apple's terms.
Network access
The app makes a network request in exactly one case: when you paste a ListForge share link to import an army list. The app then fetches that list from ListForge's service. The only thing sent is the link you pasted. ListForge's own privacy policy applies to that request. The fetched list is stored on your device as described above. The app makes no other network connections, and it never contacts us.
Bluetooth
If you choose to pair with your opponent, the app uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect to one nearby device that is also running Warbrief. The two devices exchange the shared battle state and, if you have one loaded, your army list, so both screens show the same game. Nothing is relayed through the internet or any server. The app does not use Bluetooth for location, does not scan in the background, and stops advertising when you end the session or close the app. You can decline the Bluetooth permission and the app works fully on a single device.
Diagnostics
If the app crashes and you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with an anonymised crash report. This is controlled by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not add any crash-reporting or analytics software to the app.
Children
Warbrief is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Your choices
- To remove all data the app holds, delete the app from your device.
- To stop Bluetooth use, disconnect in the app or revoke the permission in Settings.
- To avoid the ListForge request, play without importing a list. The core companion works without one.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect the substance to change.
